Score settings

On the Score settings page, you can control the test taker's experience of the assessment, including the number of attempts, as well as how much of the results to display and in what language. There are currently 7 settings.

Evaluate relevance of answer

⭑ Note: This only applies to open-ended questions.

Select this checkbox if you want Speechace to check the candidate's answer for relevance.

If selected, the relevance evaluation engine checks if the candidate's response is relevant to the question being asked. Irrelevant responses show a score of 0 on the results page.

Number of allowed attempts

Select how many times you want the test taker to be able to try the test. Unlimited is the recommended setting. Allowing unlimited attempts helps test takers overcome any technical difficulties they may face in taking the test. And contrary to popular belief, multiple attempts and knowing the questions in advance ultimately rarely affect test taker scores.

Displaying scores to test taker

Select how much or how little of test results you want to show to the test taker.

For example, you might want to show only the score to the test taker, but not the detailed report. Or you might want them not to know anything about the assessment's results.

Assessment localization

Set the language to display the test results in, as well as the language of the written instructions that appear during the test.

This dropdown is filled out automatically with the same language as you chose for the avatar's speaking parts. However, you can change it to something else if it would serve the test taker to have the instructions and test results be displayed in a language other than the language used by the avatar.

Narration

Use this control to tell the avatar to be concise or verbose when speaking.

Verbose mode: slower and more step-by-step instructional, useful for low-level learners.

Concise mode: conversational, faster, smoother, useful for practice tests where time is of the essence.

Question Replay

Select how many times the test taker should be allowed to repeat a question.

Conclude Assessment

Select how many errors the test taker should be allowed before the test is terminated.
