# Roleplay assessments

Roleplay Assessments enable organizations to evaluate a wide range of communication and professional competencies through realistic AI-powered interactions. Test takers can engage with the AI using either **spoken** or **typed** responses, allowing assessments to measure both what is communicated and how it is communicated.

Depending on the scenario, Roleplay Assessments can be used to evaluate skills such as **communication**, **empathy**, **domain expertise,** **problem solving,** **adaptability**, **collaboration**, **confidence**, **critical thinking,** **emotional intelligence**, **initiative**, **integrity**, **leadership**, **learning agility**, **motivation**, **teamwork**, and **time management**.

By placing test takers in realistic conversational situations, Roleplay Assessments provide a more authentic measure of soft skills and job readiness than traditional question-and-answer formats. Assessment creators can select the skills they want to evaluate, and the AI will analyze performance throughout the conversation to generate skill-specific scores and feedback.

In the next few sections, we will explore how test creators can set up customized roleplays.
