# Scoring with Weights

Let us consider an example where individual [weights](/speechace-speaking-test/speechace-workspaces-create-manage-and-share-speaking-assessments/creating-assessments/create-new-custom-assessments/custom-assessment-configurations/weights-max-scores-timers.md) are applied to 5 questions, as shown in the image below.

<figure><img src="/files/XbjixfSB5aq6oCL9Ebwd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The score for such an assessment is calculated as a weighted average of the individual question scores, using the following formula:

`Score` = Sum of (`Question score` x `Weight of Question`)/100

As an example, if the Speechace score for these questions are 4.4, 4.8, 2.7, 4.3 and 9.0 out of 9.0 and their respective weights are 20%, 20%, 10%, 30% and 20%, then the final assessment score will be 5.2 out of 9.0 as per the calculation below:

$$
\[(4.4*20)+(4.8*20)+(2.7*10)+(4.3*30)+(9.0\*20)]/100=5.2
$$
