Scoring with Maximum Scores

Let us consider an example where individual are set for 5 questions, as shown in the image below.
The above configuration not only specifies the maximum possible score for a question but also caps the maximum possible score for the assessment. In the below paragraphs, we explain the logic behind each of these calculations.
The maximum possible score for the assessment is calculated by taking a simple average of all the maximum scores set for each individual question.
As shown in the above example, the maximum scores for 5 questions are set as 8.5, 8.0, 6.5, 5.5 and 9.0 out of 9.0. Therefore the maximum possible score for this assessment will be 7.5 out of 9.0 as per the calculation below:
No attempt for this assessment will ever have a score > 7.5.
When an attempt is made on the assessment, the score for each question is capped by its specified maximum score. The overall attempt score is then calculated by taking a simple average of the score on all questions as illustrated in the formula:
Score
= Sum of (Question score
) / total questions to be scored
For an example, if the attempt scores for the 5 questions are 8.0, 6.0, 6.0, 5.0 and 8.0 out of 9.0 then the final assessment score will be 6.6 out of 9.0 as per the calculation below:
