# Generate avatar

After doing edits to the avatar, submit the Draft avatar by clicking the **Create** button, as shown in the image below:

\
After the Draft avatar changes are submitted for an assessment, our system generates the avatar in background. Generally it takes a few minutes to generate the new avatar and you can check the status of the avatar by re-opening the Edit Avatar pane wherein a generating avatar animation can be observed at the top of the pane as below:

\
Note that the avatar generation status is also visible as icons on the assessment activities as shown below:

\
The **Blue**** In Progress** icon is shown while the avatar video is being generated. The **Green**** Draft** icon is shown when the avatar has successfully generated The **Red** Error icon is shown when there was an error while generating the avatar.

Note that while an avatar is in the **In Progress** state, no new versions of the avatar can be created for the assessment or activity.

Further note that once the video generation is complete, an email notification will be sent to your registered email ID.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://speaking-test-docs.speechace.com/speechace-speaking-test/speechace-workspaces-create-manage-and-share-speaking-assessments/customize-avatars/generate-avatar.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
